Abstract
On the rigidity and movement of the Ecuadorian archive, explores the form of discourse by the analysis of misrepresentation and its critical use in producing a “devaluation” of a various figures of political and social power throughout rhythm, movement and rigidity. It also investigates the creative process involved in the creation of this piece, taking reference to authors such as Nicole Brenez and her text Cartographies of the Found Footage, Guy Debord and his Situationist Manifesto about Misrepresentation, as well as the influence of Stan Brakhage and his film Stellar. Furthermore, it relates the piece to the concept of “liquid art” exposed by Zygmunt Bauman in his analysis of reinterpretation. Finally as a return to the key theme of the work, it presents a reflection of how discourse is sustained in art once it is decontextualized and its character deviates.
