The Literature degree program prepares students to engage in the diverse activities of contemporary cultural industries related to written and oral texts. The Literature degree program at the University of the Arts is conceived as a contemporary and dynamic academic environment within the field of Ecuadorian and Latin American literature. Its purpose is to prepare researchers, editors, writers, and critics who can contribute to contemporary debates through the production, critical analysis, and management of diverse forms of written and spoken expression. Within this framework, the program recognizes Western literary traditions as well as written and oral traditions rooted in ancestral languages and those emerging from contemporary cultural and aesthetic transformations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Graduate Profile<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Graduates of the Literature degree program at the University of the Arts will possess the knowledge and skills specific to their field, as well as a broad understanding of other artistic disciplines. They will be prepared to enter the professional field by leading creative projects and working in cultural management, reading mediation, and content creation for a variety of communication platforms. They will also be qualified to work in educational and research institutions, libraries, museums, regional and international organizations, NGOs, foundations, cultural centers, and the publishing sector. Their broad intercultural perspective will enable them to foster social awareness and sensitivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Faculty<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The School of Literature has a faculty composed of writers with distinguished artistic and academic careers, as well as editors and researchers with master\u2019s and doctoral degrees. Their areas of interest include Ecuadorian and Latin American literature; comparative studies; the literature of the fantastic; linguistic experimentation and gender theory; semiotics and cultural studies; oral traditions and ancestral knowledge; intercultural bilingual education and other perspectives related to multiculturalism; as well as poetry, related forms of writing, and the exploration of language from multiple contemporary perspectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
