Accreditation is the next major challenge for the University of the Arts, one to which we will dedicate much of this year. But what is it all about? Below, we present a guide to the accreditation process.
It is a recognition granted by the Consejo de Aseguramiento de la Calidad de la Educación Superior (CACES, Council for Quality Assurance of Higher Education) to Universities and Polytechnic Schools (UEP) that have met the quality criteria and standards established in its external evaluation model. These criteria encompass teaching, research, and community engagement, as well as the institutional conditions that enable the university’s operations.
The process involves a thorough analysis consisting of three phases: submission of Information; field Evaluation, which includes technical verification and visits from external evaluators, and the preparation of evaluation reports.
The parameters assessed will include Teaching, Research, Community Engagement, and Institutional Conditions. Additionally, three dimensions will be evaluated: planning, execution, and results.
CACES, through its Permanent Commission of Universities and Polytechnic Schools, will establish external evaluation committees. These committees will include national or international evaluators who have previously participated in university evaluation processes.
The external evaluation conducted by CACES will take place throughout 2024. It begins on March 1st with the information submission phase and concludes in October with the delivery of the final report. During the months of May and June, UArtes will host visits from CACES technicians and external evaluators.
It is worth noting that the external evaluation process for accreditation will also involve the National University of Education, Amazon Regional University IKIAM, Yachay Tech University, and University of Arts.
The final external evaluation report will be published on October 31, 2024.
The preliminary evaluation report will be released by CACES on August 16, 2024.
Observations on the report can be submitted between August 19 and August 30, 2024.
Technical Visit
From May 6 to May 10, CACES will conduct a technical visit.
On-Site Visit
From June 24 to June 28, CACES will carry out an on-site evaluation.
From April 1 to April 4, any missing information identified during the initial submission phase must be provided.
From March 1 to March 22, the institutional information required for analysis and validation by CACES must be uploaded.
By January 16, 2024, a final report summarizing the findings from the self-evaluation process must be submitted.
At UArtes, we recognize the vital role of our community in shaping and driving us toward continuous improvement. As part of the accreditation process, the university's authorities, academic and support staff, administrative personnel, and students will all be evaluated.
The purpose of accreditation is to verify that our performance aligns with established quality standards and characteristics, ensuring that our activities are carried out in harmony with our mission, vision, institutional purposes, and objectives.
Accreditation reaffirms the commitment of the University of Arts to educational excellence in service to society.
