The University of the Arts is opening its admissions process for the second academic term of 2026. Applications will be accepted from May 25, 2026 through Friday, July 24, 2026.

If art is your calling and you hold a high school diploma or are completing your final year of secondary school, including those who already hold a university or technical degree, we invite you to apply to the University of the Arts admissions process.

Admissions Process

  • National Registration

    You must complete the National Registration process administered by MINEDEC (SENESCYT) beginning in early June. The first stage runs from June 2 to 6. The second stage runs from June 9 to 13.

    The confirmation document generated through this process is a required component of our admissions process.

    Register on the MINEDEC (formerly SENESCYT) National Registration website.

    Once the National Registration has been completed, the Social Registrationstage will become available. This step is optional. If you belong to a vulnerable group, you may earn additional points toward your final application score.

  • Information Session Registration

    You may register for our virtual information sessions on the Proficiency Exam and Competency Assessments from Monday, May 25 through Friday, May 29, 2026..

    You will receive a confirmation notification by email.

  • Online Application Submission

    You may submit your application through our online platform from Monday, May 25, 2026 through Friday, July 24, 2026,  where you will upload all materials required for your chosen degree program. Please note that you must also submit the National Registration certificate generated through the MINEDEC (formerly SENESCYT) platform.

  • Virtual Information Sessions

    From Monday, June 1 through Friday, June 5, 2026, virtual information sessions on the Proficiency Exam will be held by admissions coordinators and designated staff for all applicants.

  • Competency Assessment Notification

    Applicants who pass the proficiency evaluation stage with a minimum score of 700 points will be notified of their competency assessment by email between Tuesday, August 11 and Thursday, August 13, 2026 .

  • Competency Assessments

    All applicants will be assessed on the competencies required for their chosen degree program. Assessments will take place from Monday, August 17 through Thursday, August 20, 2026.

    The format, location, time, and date of the assessments will be communicated to applicants by email.

  • Competency Assessment Results

    Applicants must check their results on Monday, August 24, 2026 , by logging into the admissions platform.

  • Appeals: Submission and Response

    Appeals regarding assessment results must be submitted using the established form to the email address admisiones@uartes.edu.ec on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.Responses will be sent by email on Tuesday, September 1, 2026..

  • Seat Assignment and Acceptance

    From Monday, September 7 through Wednesday, September 9, 2026, applicants will be notified by email of their seat assignment at the University of the Arts.

    Applicants who are offered a seat must complete the seat acceptance process through the MINEDEC (formerly SENESCYT) platform between September 13 and 15, 2026.

  • Enrollment

    The enrollment process for the first academic term of 2026 will begin on Monday, September 21, 2026 .

Yes, the University of the Arts is a public institution, and therefore education is free of charge. However, if you already hold a university degree from a public institution, or wish to pursue a second degree program at a public university, tuition fees will apply.

In such cases, the costs are as follows:

    • $33.89 per course.
    • $18.88 for the single semester enrollment fee.

Payments are made at Banco del Pacífico, checking account #8063656, payable to the University of the Arts (RUC UArtes: 0968604120001).

  • Most bachelor's degree programs have a duration of 8 semesters (4 years).
  • The Visual Arts degree program has a duration of 9 semesters.

The admissions process begins on May 25.On this date, you will be able to:

  • Register on the UArtes platform.
  • Upload the required documents for your degree program of interest.
  • Complete the National Registration or Single Registration on the SENESCYT platform, once it becomes available.

The National Registration is mandatory for all applicants to public higher education institutions and is expected to open in late November or early December.

Please note: Only one degree program may be applied for per admissions process.

Classes are scheduled Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

There are no fixed timetables; schedules vary by degree program and semester.

No. All bachelor's degree programs at UArtes are offered exclusively in an in-person format.

No. The University of the Arts is based at its main campus in Guayaquil, located at the Antiguo Palacio de la Gobernación, across from Malecón 2000. The university also uses several heritage buildings for its academic activities.

The number of courses varies by degree program and semester; however, students are generally advised to enroll in between 6 and 8 courses per semester.

Enrolling in two degree programs simultaneously is not possible, given the in-person format and the rotating course schedules.
