International Relations

One of the objectives of the University of the Arts of Ecuador (UArtes) is to maintain an open dialogue with the world, prioritizing the development of international relations and exchange in order to connect the local with the global.

The communication possibilities offered by new technologies facilitate the internationalization of UArtes. This process encompasses several dimensions: the participation of faculty trained abroad, the visits of international professors and artists as guest speakers, and the engagement of UArtes faculty and students in activities and initiatives overseas. Additionally, foreign language instruction equips students with the tools to understand other cultures, broaden their horizons, and foster their mobility.

Arts universities must embrace an international outlook in order to stimulate research initiatives, promote the exchange of academic experiences, and facilitate the integration of their students into global artistic and academic networks. It is undeniable that by working together with other artists, researchers, and institutions, UArtes' knowledge production in art, on art, and for the arts will be enriched.

In accordance with pedagogical and research needs, the academic units bear primary responsibility for the internationalization of UArtes. Members of the university community are, in fact, already involved in a wide range of internationally oriented projects.

Our role within the Department of International Relations is to:

  • Coordinate the development of strategic alliances with institutions and academic and cultural cooperation networks linked to the arts, both in Latin America and worldwide;
  • Support the planning and dissemination of activities with an international dimension;
  • Promote and organize student and faculty mobility;
  • Help secure and manage international funding and scholarships to support programs and initiatives;
  • Ensure the visibility of UArtes at the regional and international level.
