The Bachelor's Degree in Film invites you to discover a world in constant movement; future professionals will become creators of stories, aesthetics, images and sounds, with a broad knowledge of cinematographic language and contemporary narrative forms.
The Film School of the Universidad de las Artes offers a program that aims to train high-level professionals in the field of film and audiovisual arts, with extensive knowledge of the techniques, trades, history, languages, aesthetics and the current enclaves of reflection on the creation, industry and economy of film and the audiovisual. To this end, the program proposes the combination of research, criticism, production, practice and creation activities, with an emphasis on contemporary forms and narratives, adopting an approach attentive to the particularities and needs of the local context, to intercultural dialogues and to the production and reflection developed in territories of the South.
Graduates of this program will become familiar with the history of world cinema and the place of Ecuadorian cinema in it, creatively applying different methods of film analysis and developing activities of direction, production, script writing, sound design, art direction, lighting and production design in cinematographic and audiovisual productions in various formats, genres and fields. He/she will also be able to solve fundamental problems of cinematographic research, with emphasis on contemporary approaches to filmmaking and audiovisual expressions.
The professors of the Film School are professionals with recognized academic and artistic careers, specialized in the proposed core fields of the program (theory and criticism, creative production, writing, research and expanded field). It is a community of filmmakers who approach critical writing; critics who explore visual and audiovisual narratives; researchers who construct and deconstruct from the inter and transdisciplinary.

El Plan de Movilidad Nacional permite estancias temporales de estudio en otras universidades. La UArtes inició el intercambio académico con la Espol en el 2022-B y actualmente lo realiza también con la Universidad Católica, Casa Grande y Universidad del Río. Con la secretaria académica, Verónica Orellana, ampliamos el tema y conocimos la experiencia de una alumna que ha cursado materias en tres de las IES señaladas.
Del 1 al 5 de junio, en la Sala de Cine del MZ14 UArtes, se desarrollará la VII edición de “Diálogo AudioVisual”, una propuesta que nació en el 2018 de la gestión del Cineclub CinemaScape y que ha logrado generar seis exitosas citas, que en su conjunto han concentrado a más de cien invitados en debates sobre las diferentes ramas del cine y sus oficios. Rafael Plaza, graduado de la carrera de Cine, es su organizador.
Que sean homónimas y se especialicen en artes no son las únicas similitudes entre la Universidad de las Artes de Ecuador y la Universidad de las Artes de Tokio. También, la vinculación con la sociedad y el trabajo que desarrollan en territorio con las comunidades. En ese marco, ambas instituciones traspasan las fronteras para, de manera articulada, presentar en Guayaquil TURN, un proyecto artístico y de inclusión social.
