Educational and Pedagogical Model

Educational Model

The educational model of the University of the Arts defines the philosophical foundations of our work, aligned with the institution's vision, mission, and guiding ethical principles. This model provides a clear framework that shapes academic and creative activities, structured around the three core functions of higher education: teaching, research, and community engagement.

Our starting point is the need to strike a balance between artistic practice and educational practice, while fostering equitable relationships that recognize the diverse individual and collective capacities involved in the generation and production of knowledge among the members of the UArtes university community.

To this end, the model rests on three essential pillars: sentipensar (feeling-thinking), saber cuidar (the ethics of care), and saber crear (the art of creation). These principles aim to develop artists of excellence—grounded in ethical depth and sensitivity—who are capable of generating innovative and relevant artistic proposals that make a meaningful contribution to the cultural development and social transformation of our country.

Pedagogical Model

Our pedagogical approach focuses on providing concrete tools and active methodologies that translate the institution's theory and philosophy into university practice, with the aim of fostering meaningful and transformative learning.

We adopt experiential learning as our foundational approacha framework that begins with concrete experience and draws on the multiple dimensions of knowledge to bridge lived experience and theory. Its goal is to encourage epistemic and organic reflection grounded in the convergence of the three axes of the educational model.

In this way, we seek to generate from the individual and their territory, taking into account their personal and collective, social and intellectual characteristics new perspectives and dynamics in relation to artistic creation, to the practice-learning process that produces knowledge, and to meaningful engagement with the diverse communities of our country.
