Validation of Professional Experience in the Arts

The process for the Validation of Artistic or Cultural Professional Experience is not currently active. The most recent process took place during the 2021–2022 period, and no new call for applications is currently scheduled.

The University of the Arts will provide timely information through its official channels if the process resumes in the future.

The University of the Arts Launches the Professional Experience Validation Process.

On December 20, 2021, the University of the Arts launched the process for the Validation of Artistic or Cultural Professional Experience toward an undergraduate degree, under the specific agreement signed with the Ministry of Culture and Heritage (MCyP). The process is legally grounded in the Regulations for the Validation of Artistic or Cultural Professional Trajectories, issued by the Higher Education Council on June 3, 2020.

The following degree programs are eligible for full or partial validation:

  • Visual Arts
  • Literature
  • Film
  • Theater Creation
  • Music and Sound Production 
  • Musical and Sound Arts

The following criteria will be considered when evaluating artistic or cultural professional experience:

  1. Qualifying Period: Applicants must demonstrate at least 10 years of professional artistic activity.
  2. Teaching and Knowledge-Transfer Experience: Applicants must document experience equivalent to at least 40% of the qualifying period, during which they actively participated in teaching and learning processes.

To facilitate the submission process, UArtes has developed an online platform where applicants can upload supporting documentation for each criterion. All applications must be submitted exclusively through this online platform. Applicants will receive guidance and support from UArtes staff throughout this stage of the process. In accordance with its institutional autonomy, UArtes reserves the right to limit the number of applications accepted based on its available capacity.

The Validation of Artistic or Cultural Professional Experience is not covered by Ecuador’s tuition-free higher education policy. Therefore, a total fee of USD 1,050 has been established to cover the technical and operational costs of the process.
