The Directorate of Research Policies in Art oversees the processes of calls for proposals, selection, monitoring, and dissemination of results for research programs and projects in the artistic and cultural fields developed comprehensively within the institution. This is conducted in accordance with the regulations of the Higher Education System, the policies and research lines approved by the University Council, and the guidelines of the Vice-Rectory of Postgraduate Studies and Research in Arts. The Directorate operates in close collaboration with the Academic Vice-Rectory and the Secretariat of Community Engagement, functioning as a dependent, organic, and functional unit of the Vice-Rectory of Postgraduate Studies and Research in Arts. The responsibilities of the academic management units are detailed in the University’s Organic Manual by Processes.

It is responsible for managing the processes of calling for applications, selection, follow-up, and dissemination of the results of research programs and projects in the artistic-cultural field, developed in an integral manner within the institution, within the framework of the Higher Education System regulations; for the development and follow-up of the research policies and lines approved by the University Council and under the guidelines of the Office of Graduate Studies and Arts Research. This Office manages its work in close connection and in an integral way with the Academic Vice President and the Office of Community Engagement. It will be a unit that is dependent, organic, and functional of the Office of Graduate Studies and Arts Research. The powers and responsibilities of the operational units for academic management are set out in the University’s Organic Manual by processes.

Doctor of Music from the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina “Santa María de los Buenos Aires.” University Master’s in Spanish and Latin American music (Complutense University of Madrid, 2012); Master in Music (Universidad Simón Bolívar, 2009); Bachelor in Music, with a mention in Composition (Universidad Simón Bolívar, 2009); Bachelor in Music, with a mention in Composition (Instituto Universitario de Estudios Musicales – UNEARTE, 2005). He was director and founder of the project 0.02 vocal contemporary music. He carried out artistic residencies at the Centro Nacional de las Artes and Escuela Superior de Música (Mexico City) and at the Asociación Francesa de Acción Artística de Ciudad de las Artes (Paris).

Economist and Master’s student in Administrative Law with a specialization in Public Procurement. Experience as a Planning Analyst in District 09D04 Febres Cordero; responsible for Public Procurement at the House of Ecuadorian Culture, Guayas Node; professional in Capacity Building for Planning and Evaluation Management in the Zonal Coordination 8 of the Ministry of Sport; Relationship Analyst in the Innovation and Knowledge Transfer area at the Bolivarian University of Ecuador; and external advisor for operational planning, budget execution, and Public Procurement in sports organizations.

Mario Maquilón Saltos
Analyst 3
Social communicator with a specialization in Literature and a Master’s in Humanities: Art, Literature and Contemporary Culture. He has carried out functions at the Ministry of Education, at SENESCYT, and at the Latin American Institute of Arts Research (ILIA) of the University of the Arts and its Observatory. He currently works as an analyst for the Office of Arts Research Policies at that university. His artistic practices include poetry, photography, dance, and music.

Advisory Committee for Graduate Studies and Arts Research
The Advisory Committee is a consultative body of the Superior Collegiate Body tasked with proposing policies, regulations, and research lines, issuing recommendations for their implementation, and providing technical assistance for faculty research projects in collaboration with the Directorate of Research Policies in Art.
