Actualmente es Profesor titular de la Universidad de las Artes en Guayaquil (Ecuador) y tiene un dúo de música electrónica mixta experimental con Adina Izarra
Graduado con el Título Profesional de Guitarra del “Real Conservatorio de Música y Declamación” de Madrid (España), donde estudió con el Maestro Antonio Ortega.
Desde 1973 hasta 1979 tuvo a su cargo la cátedra de guitarra del Conservatorio Vicente Emilio Sojo de Barquisimeto, (Venezuela), en ese año obtuvo una bolsa de trabajo del Consejo Nacional de la Cultura (CONAC), para estudiar en el “Guildhall School of Music and Drama” de Londres, (Inglaterra), donde realizó dos postgrados en música antigua especializándose en laúd renacentista, tiorba y continuo, con el músico británico Nigel North, mientras que paralelamente, estudiaba guitarra clásica con el compositor John Duarte.
En 1982 se traslada a Estados Unidos para obtener su Maestría en Música Clásica en el “Manhattan School of Music” de Nueva York, donde trabajó con el Maestro brasileño Carlos Barbosa Lima.
En el 2014 obtuvo el Doctorado en Humanidades de la Universidad Central de Venezuela con una tesis sobre: La Tiorba, actualidad de un instrumento antiguo.
Desde 1986 se ha dedicado a la divulgación de la música contemporánea, para guitarra clásica e instrumentos antiguos, con énfasis en los compositores latinoamericanos tradicionales y electrónicos, muchos de los cuales han escrito obras para él.
Desde el 2005 hasta el 2016 fue el compositor en residencia y diseñador de sonido de la compañía “El Teatro Itinerante de Venezuela”
Desde el 2013 al 2016 fue director de la cátedra de guitarra en la Universidad Lisandro Alvarado en la ciudad de Barquisimeto, Venezuela
