The Cross-disciplinary Department of Critical Theories and Experimental Practice is the academic, epistemological and interdisciplinary axis that accompanies students throughout their artistic education at the University of the Arts.
The mission of this unit focuses on the following cores: to expand the student's disciplinary horizon, create links between the different arts, stimulate transdisciplinary dialogues and promote the development of both research and experimental projects.
The teachers that make up the cross-disciplinary department come from different fields of theoretical and/or practical research in the arts. This allows the following objectives to be achieved during the student's training process:
- Promote an adequate transition to the university requirements of academic writing.
- Encourage the progressive introduction to the specialized field of art through history, philosophy and aesthetics.
- Broaden artistic knowledge and tools through spaces for theoretical and practical reflection (laboratories), for collaborative, experimental and interdisciplinary creation within the framework of new technologies.
- To direct the student towards other fields of knowledge from a transdisciplinary perspective. That is to say, to link it with the management and economy of culture, the Latin American political context, community-local environments and the general field of production and dissemination of the arts.
