The Literature program at the University of the Arts provides an innovative academic space in the field of Latin American and Ecuadorian literature. It aims to train researchers, editors, creators, and literary critics who will engage in contemporary debates through the evaluation, production, editing, and management of various artistic expressions of language. This includes not only traditionally Western narratives but also stories from ancestral languages and those resulting from contemporary changes.
Graduates of the School of Literature at the University of the Arts will have, in addition to the knowledge specific to their field, a broad understanding of other artistic disciplines. As a result, they will be capable of entering the job market by executing creative projects, managing cultural activities, translating, and creating content for various communication platforms. They will also find opportunities in educational and research institutes, libraries, museums, regional and international organizations, NGOs, foundations, cultural centers, and text editing. Their broad and intercultural perspective will aim to foster social awareness and sensitivity.
The faculty of the Literature program are innovators in the field: they include writers with both artistic and academic experience; editors; and academic researchers. They are professionals with Master’s and PhD degrees, as well as specialists in ancestral languages and indigenous communities. Their research interests include Latin American literature, comparative studies, records of fantastic imagination, colonial theater, linguistic experimentation, semiotics and cultural studies, oral expressions and ancestral knowledge, bilingual intercultural education, among others.

Una jornada de diálogos, talleres de escritura y karaoke cortavenas propone la XI edición de “País para cuentistas” que se desarrollará este viernes 30 de enero, de 10:30 a 18:30, en la Biblioteca de las Artes. En este año, la cita abraza la temática “¡Qué arda la casa!”; en su organización intervienen estudiantes de Literatura; está dirigida a exalumnos narradores; y tendrá como invitados a los escritores Edmundo Paz Soldán (Bolivia) y Dalton Osorno (Ecuador).

Una jornada de sensibilización vivieron los docentes, estudiantes y funcionarios de la Universidad de las Artes que participaron en la actividad con la que el Centro Municipal de Apoyo para Personas con Discapacidad Visual “Cuatro de Enero” conmemoró el Día Mundial del Braille. Bajo la denominación “Ponte punto con el Braille”, la delegación UArtes pudo explorar cuadros artísticos en relieve mediante el tacto y recibir una introducción a la escritura Braille. La visita la coordinó la Dirección de Acompañamiento al Éxito Académico (DAEA).

Una emotiva presentación permitió ver los resultados del taller “Relatos sonoros”, facilitado por estudiantes de la UArtes en el marco del proyecto de vinculación “PAZ: Pedagogía en artes para la transformación social en sectores en condición de vulnerabilidad”. Tuvo lugar en la Escuela de Educación Básica Fiscal Cerro del Carmen, donde niños y niñas de dicho plantel protagonizaron el cuento sonoro “La Banda del Cerro”.
