The Bachelor's Degree in Film invites you to discover a world in constant movement; future professionals will become creators of stories, aesthetics, images and sounds, with a broad knowledge of cinematographic language and contemporary narrative forms.
The Film School of the Universidad de las Artes offers a program that aims to train high-level professionals in the field of film and audiovisual arts, with extensive knowledge of the techniques, trades, history, languages, aesthetics and the current enclaves of reflection on the creation, industry and economy of film and the audiovisual. To this end, the program proposes the combination of research, criticism, production, practice and creation activities, with an emphasis on contemporary forms and narratives, adopting an approach attentive to the particularities and needs of the local context, to intercultural dialogues and to the production and reflection developed in territories of the South.
Graduates of this program will become familiar with the history of world cinema and the place of Ecuadorian cinema in it, creatively applying different methods of film analysis and developing activities of direction, production, script writing, sound design, art direction, lighting and production design in cinematographic and audiovisual productions in various formats, genres and fields. He/she will also be able to solve fundamental problems of cinematographic research, with emphasis on contemporary approaches to filmmaking and audiovisual expressions.
The professors of the Film School are professionals with recognized academic and artistic careers, specialized in the proposed core fields of the program (theory and criticism, creative production, writing, research and expanded field). It is a community of filmmakers who approach critical writing; critics who explore visual and audiovisual narratives; researchers who construct and deconstruct from the inter and transdisciplinary.
Kiersten Jungbluth Pienknagura, de Literatura, fue la primera estudiante en sustentar su proyecto de titulación en el presente periodo de defensas que lleva adelante la Secretaría Académica de la Universidad de las Artes. La hoy egresada se presentó ante el comité de tesis el pasado 10 de febrero y, acorde a lo programado, las sustentaciones que lleva a los alumnos de nuestras cinco escuelas de pregrado hacia la recta final de sus carreras se registrarán hasta el 6 de marzo próximo.
Como parte de las actividades de circulación de los resultados del proyecto de investigación “Dislocar” de la Universidad de las Artes, la docente Priscilla Aguirre desarrolló en la Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana Núcleo Galápagos (CCE-Galápagos) un taller cuyo objetivo fue brindar herramientas prácticas para la creación y accesibilidad artística con personas con discapacidad desde un enfoque transdisciplinar.
Dirigida por William Anthony Loor, alumnus UArtes, en la Sala de Cine del MZ14 se presentó en preestreno la miniserie ecuatoriana independiente y de ficción “Fuera de Juego”, cuyo estreno digital será este 26 de febrero en su canal de YouTube. En formato webserie y, hasta el momento, con seis episodios, este drama explora la diversidad y los afectos masculinos desde un entorno poco representado en pantalla: las canchas barriales.
